These fudge-y brownies are so much more than a sweet treat. They’re packed with gut healing probiotics, courtesy of Just Thrive Probiotic!
Just Thrive is a 100% spore-based probiotic (meaning it’s great for people with SIBO), that can also be heated to 455 degrees F. So you know I couldn’t resist trying these out in some baked goods!
I’ve been using Just Thrive for a few months now, and I am really into it - I think I’ve found my probiotic for life.
There are a few reasons why I love this probiotic (And no, it’s not just because I can get my daily dose of good bacteria while eating brownies, but that doesn’t hurt either!).
#1: Just Thrive uses researched and verified probiotic strains.
Really, anyone can purchase a probiotic powder, throw it in a capsule, call it a probiotic supplement and charge crazy amounts of money for strains of bacteria that may or may not work in harmony with one another.
So, if you take any old probiotic supplement from the grocery store or health food market, you don’t really know how (or if) those strains will work together to make you healthier.
The strains in the Just Thrive probiotic have been through rigorous scientific studies that show that these specific strains together are able to significantly reduce the permeability of the gut lining.
If I’m going to spend my hard earned money on a probiotic I want to make sure that it’s actually going to be doing some good for my health - and the research performed on Just Thrive makes it a winner in my book!
#2: Just Thrive probiotics are able to make it to the intestines alive, where they’re needed.
The stomach is a scary place, if you’re a probiotic that is.
One of the main functions of stomach acid is to kill bacteria and foreign invaders that we accidentally consume with the food we’re eating..
Unfortunately, that also makes it difficult for the helpful bacteria in probiotics to make it to the intestines where it’s needed.
But, because Just Thrive is a soil-based probiotic (and the strains have been specifically selected for their ability to withstand the harsh, acidic conditions of the stomach), these probiotics make it alive to the intestines where they’re able to exert more beneficial effects than if they were dead upon arrival.
#3 Just Thrive also acts as an antioxidant.
One of the strains in Just Thrive (Bacillus Indicus HU36) produces antioxidants once it gets to the small intestine.
This is not only super cool, but antioxidants (like those found in fruits, veggies, and leafy greens) help protect your cells against the effects of free radicals - which can actually damage our own healthy tissue - so the less free radicals the better!
The antioxidant power of Just Thrive is extra awesome, because the probiotic delivers these antioxidants right to the small intestine where they can be easily absorbed and transported through the blood stream to the rest of your body.
Just one more reason why Just Thrive is a super-star probiotic in my book.
Anyways, back to the actual reason you’re here - Probiotic Brownies!
These things are amazing, and the serving size is perfect for just you, no need to share.
I used nut butters and honey to make them extra gooey, and an unexpected result of using nut butters is that the brownies have a slight hint of nutty goodness to them.
For this recipe I used a combo of almond butter and peanut butter (not Paleo, I know, but it’s so good!). But I really have a feeling that cashew butter would be the big winner in this recipe.
Treating your gut well has never tasted so good - I hope you enjoy these gut friendly probiotic brownies!
- 2 Tbsp Nut Butter (try combining different nut butters!)
- 2 tsp Oil (I usually use Coconut, or Avocado when I’m making these for my husband since he’s not a coconut fan)
- 2 Tbsp Unsweetened Nut Milk
- 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 2 Tbsp Honey
- 3 Tbsp Almond Flour
- 1 Tbsp Cacao Powder
- 1/8 tsp Salt
- 1/4 tsp Baking Powder
- 1 Just Thrive Probiotic Capsule
- (Walnuts or Pecans are a great optional addition!)
1. Combine all ingredients except probiotic and nuts into a medium sized bowl.
2. Open the probiotic capsule and sprinkle the probiotic powder into the mixture.
3. Mix well.
4. Pour brownie mixture into a small pan or oven safe dish.
5. If using, sprinkle nuts on top of brownie mixture.
